Starting a Garden with the FFA

Two important things a parent can teach a child: how to catch a fish and how to plant a garden. “It provides them a sense of accomplishment and self-sufficiency,” Ag teacher and FFA Leader, Dave Swanson stated. He went on to say, “They can see a final outcome (good or bad) and grow something for themselves. It provides an opportunity to give back and share. Students see that we don’t do this for ourselves but for the community. Hopefully, they can do that when they have their own gardens someday.”

Don’t miss this great FFA story with tons of student quotes.
