Bring your appetite to the BOF ’19

Saddle up folks, we’re heading out to the farm and with any luck at all the sun will be shining. Saturday, June 1 is the 19th Annual Breakfast on the Farm (BOF) and the kick-off to Rodeo Week. This year, the Hawley Lions will be serving their free-will offering pancakes, sausage, and scrambled egg breakfast out at Kasin Farms (4271 230 St. S Hawley). They will be cracking eggs and serving breakfast from 7 a.m. to 12 noon and what would breakfast be without a good source of calcium? The Hawley FFA Alumni and other Clay County Leaders will be serving free ice cream cones.
BOF provides an up-close look at what life on the farm is like and where some of our groceries and products come from. You can tour the farm by horse and wagon or barrel train; watch as local farmers ride in on tractors or as the kiddos compete in the Kids Pedal Tractor Pull (registration at 8:15 a.m. starts at 9:00 a.m.) Just follow the animal sounds from the barnyard animals or the guitar strings of Jan Severson who will be performing live.
You’ll likely find a chicken or two around the farm; a fiberglass cow that goes by the name of Daisy, for sure, as well as New and Old Farm Equipment displays, Farm-Safety-4-Kids-and-Adults, Horticultural Information, and Bio-Diesel/Ethanol booths.
