“Laura Kuhn first slipped on her pink ballet slippers when she was just three years old and has been dancing ever since. Her first dance, “We stepped right and leaned and then we stepped left and leaned” while dancing to “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” from Marry Poppins. My outfit was purple with lace and roses all over it,” Laura shared with a smile.
Since her debut, Laura has releve (rise on the toes) in ballet shoes, pirouette (whirl or spin) on pointe (wooden ballet slippers), and slap (flap without weight transfer) in tap shoes. She has twenty years of experience, fifteen years of studio dance, and five years of Competitive Dance Team. She has danced to a variety of styles: jazz, lyrical, high kick, hip-hop, ballet, and pom. All that energy and experience has led to her new position as Head Varsity Coach of the UCB Mystix Dance Team.
Laura graduated from MSUM with a major in elementary education and a minor in Dance Theater in 2017. While she was a college student at MSUM she danced competitively on the MSUM Dance Team.”
