Nuggets Knock Off Highly-Ranked Cowboys in Convincing 56-27 Win

Linebacker Gunnar Lawson is having an incredible senior season leading the Nuggets in tackles.

The Hawley Nugget football team started the second half of the regular season playing their best football all year.  The Breckenridge Cowboys came to Hawley last Friday night boasting a perfect 4-0 record and being ranked #6 in the latest Class AA State Poll.  The Cowboys wins included wins over Roseau, Pelican Rapids, and Crookston by a combined score of 121-6 over the previous three weeks.  The Nuggets entered this critical matchup also coming off several impressive victories including wins over Crookston, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, and Roseau.  A season ago, the Nuggets and Cowboys played a fantastic game down in Breckenridge with Hawley taking home a 44-26 win.  The matchup this year didn’t disappoint either as this year’s game saw a large number of big plays in all facets of the game.
